SYNOPSIS : Shot as a part of a ‘Make a film in 4 days’ workshop, we had use of a functioning school theatre with a teenage cast, Deus Ex Machina, based on Euripide’s The Bacchae, uses its real environment the way Suspiria used the Freiburg ballet school — the institution itself becomes the horror. When Sienna enrols at a drama school mid-production of The Bacchae, she discovers the students bonded to trauma, to ritual, to a disembodied god.
She went looking for the source. The faithful were waiting.
