SYNOPSIS : On November 25, 1918, Lucien Price (1883–1964), a journalist for the Boston Globe, learned that his friend, Fred “Fritz” Demmler (1888–1918), a portrait artist from Pittsburgh, had died on November 2, 1918, as a result of wounds he received in Belgium near the end of the First World War. Grief-stricken, Lucien recalls the time in July 1917 when Fritz visited him at Chestnut Hill Farm in West Newbury, Massachusetts, a utopian collective of social radicals. Lucien calls it “that colony of radicals.” During this short visit, Lucien and Fritz—both committed pacifists—mulled over the possibility of going to prison as conscientious objectors. With original music by singer-songwriter Daniel Chouinard.
