SYNOPSIS : The First Day is a personal historical short film about June 22, 1941 — the first day of the Great Patriotic War, the Soviet Union’s war against Nazi Germany during World War II.
Inspired by the memory of my great-grandfather, Senior Lieutenant Polikarp Antonovich Sokolov, the film follows a simple dramatic path: a peaceful family morning, a letter from the border, the sudden alarm, evacuation, battle, and the final image of a shattered military camp.
This is not only a film about the beginning of war. It is a story about family memory, human fate, and the fragile border between ordinary life and historical catastrophe.
